Dr. David Denslow, Jr., Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Florida, is also in the University’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research. He teaches the large electronic platform course Introductory Macroeconomics.
Born in Eustis, Florida, Denslow earned a bachelor’s degree from Earlham College and a doctoral degree from Yale University. He came to the University of Florida in 1970, where he chaired the department of economics in 1987-89. In addition to his experience at UF, Denslow has taught in Brazil, first as a Fulbright Visiting Professor and then with funding from the Ford Foundation.
At the University of Florida he was University Alumni Professor for 1989-91, has received a president’s medallion, chaired the Faculty Advisory Council and the Salary Task Force, and currently chairs the Honorary Degrees Committee. He has served on the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors twice, once as chair.
The author of numerous articles in economic publications, he co-authored (with Carol Weissert) Tough Choices: Shaping Florida’s Future for the Collins Institute. He and his wife Nancy have two adult daughters, Sandy and Sheri.
