Dr. DeFoor, II is a seventh-generation Floridian. He lives at Wakulla Springs, FL with his wife Terry, a librarian, and 3 children. He is State Coordinator for EarthBalance®, an environmental restoration firm. He also served as Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida.
A man of many interests, he is a well-known conservationist, a businessman, Florida historian, former county and circuit judge, and was Sheriff of Monroe County. Dr. DeFoor was the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor in 1990, as running-mate to Gov. Bob Martinez, and served as Gov. Jeb Bush's "Everglades Czar". In this latter role, he helped put together the largest land restoration project in world history.
Dr. DeFoor has a B.A. (Geography) and M.A. (Criminology) from USF (Tampa), law degree from Stetson, and a M.Div. and D.Min. from the Florida Center for Theological Studies, a Miami seminary.
