Mark B. Rosenberg

Rosenberg, a professor of political science at Florida International University, formerly served as Chancellor of the Board of Governors, State University System of Florida. As Chancellor he advocated for enhanced quality in the system and he supported expanded need based financial aid for eligible students. He has also been Visiting Distinguished Research Professor at The Peabody College of Vanderbilt University, and a Visiting Professor at the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM), in Mexico.

A former Fulbright Research Scholar, Dr. Rosenberg is a specialist on inter-American affairs, and has published seven books, including most recently (with Luis Guillermo Solis) The United States and Central America: Geopolitical Realities and Regional Fragility (New York: Routledge, 2007).

At FIU, Dr. Rosenberg served as founding director of the Latin American and Caribbean Center, as founding dean of the College of Urban and Public Affairs, as Vice Provost for International Affairs, as Provost and as Acting President. He spearheaded FIU’s successful efforts to establish both a college of law and a college of medicine. While he served as provost, FIU was invited to join Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s most prestigious honorary society.

Dr. Rosenberg received his Ph.D. in politics from the University of Pittsburgh and his B.A. in political science from Miami University of Ohio, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa. He is married to Rosalie. Their two children are currently enrolled at Florida International University and will soon graduate.
